Introduction Rationale The eLearning has focused around a single item, this being the use of a web 2.0 tool. This has created an awareness and desire to move forward in the teachers, who are involved with the iLearning projects and a single piece of the jigsaw has been created. However, the spirit of the movement would be to integrate into the curriculum these cutting edge tools and to mesh the traditional with the new and it is intended that this course fulfils this spirit. Overview This course would provide another step towards the integration process, building upon the CEO Web2.0 staff course. The course may be presented in the form of a full day or two days of training led by teachers, who are currently using a range of online resources and have programmed this integration in their teaching or broken into a series of presentations over a Term. The course could provide the basis for a central registry with the sharing of programs supported by resources Attendees of the course would experience
  • An initial immersion by viewing examples and their use. Examining programs, blogs, online resources and Web 2.0 tools.
  • An opportunity to examine existing programs and how integration of these tools may be accomplished.
  • An opportunity to write into their programs these resources and the creation of a suitable medium for students to use.
Criteria for attendance
  • Prior learning with the expectation that the participants have completed the CEO web 2.0 staff course or equivalent.
  • Teachers please bring along a soft copy of programs to modify.
  • Range of KLA working collaboratively be beneficial.
Outcomes The teacher:
  • Identifies and evaluates a range of online resources and web 2.0 tools available.
  • Generates ideas and considers a range of solutions to a defined need.
  • Uses technology to support student learning.
  • Applies an understanding of ways to integrate traditional pedagogy with the range of online resources and web 2.0 tools available.

  • Develops solutions to consolidate online resources and web 2.0 tools into the curriculum.

Detail Session 1 9.30am to 10.30am An initial immersion by: viewing examples and their use; Examining programs, blogs, online resources and web 2.0 tools. Presentation of Sushi and Moomoo in depth examining:
  • the aim
  • features and uses
  • connection with online resources
  • connection with texts
  • connection with student wikis
Session 2
10.45am to 12.45pm
Examination workshop: examination of Web 2.0 and of their own programs and how integration of these tools may be accomplished.
  • Two set up activities
    • Visit Edublog to create your Blog
      • Select a theme
      • Plan your layout
      • How is the Blog to be used
      • Theme will affect the gadgets and layout
      • A Faculty Blog could have a shared Sina MyClasses account
      • Exporting to a Faculty Blog is possible later
  •  
    • Visit igoogle document create and share it
      • Share a document by “inviting” using an email address
      • Individual sharing to either “view” or “edit” is possible
      • Create a folder and populate it with two documents, remember that you can cut and paste from Word into a google document

  • Explorative activities
    • Visit Classtools Web2.0 tools and create a gadget
    • Visit Glogstar and create a poster
    • Visit Toondoo and create a cartoon
    • Visit Youtube and embed a tube into your Blog
    • Create a RSS feeder igoogle RSS feeds
Session 3 9.15am to 11.15pm Review of the previous day with questions and reponses 11.45am to 3pm Writing workshop: write into their programs these resources and the creation of a suitable medium for students to use.
  • Writing of the programs using BOS syllabus documents, school programs and Session 2 items
